Jensen’s pen and ink drawings, on the other hand, often have no literal image as a starting point, therefore artwork conclusions evolve over time, i.e., during the process. He feels this approach tends toward “the abstract or the unidentifiable, usually with vague metaphors for landscape spaces.”
In this exhibition, Mr. Jensen explores the continuum between “literal” and “abstract” imagery to support his contention that it’s not “either-or” but “and” (to varying degrees).
Karl L. Jensen’s considerable skill as an artist has led to dozens of exhibitions in California, where he has been teaching art for the past 25 years. He now serves on the faculty of
the Academy of Art University, CA.
