OPEN SPACES AND OTHER PLACES
An exhibition of oil paintings
March 1 - April 29, 2007
Carolyn Shaw's solo exhibit of oil paintings at the 1870 Art Center will be on display from March 1 through April 29, 2007.
A long time hiker and a native Californian, Carolyn draws her inspiration from walking the trails of the many parks and open spaces that surround the bay and line the coast. She is thankful for the public agencies and the private support groups which are protecting these 'open spaces' for future generations at a time when funding is tight and development is pressing. Her paintings pay tribute to the beauty and solitude of some of these special places that make us feel closer to a primary source.
Carolyn received a BA degree in art from the University of California at Berkeley. Upon completing her formal studies she continued to develop her own ideas through experimentation within the mediums of painting, drawing, and printmaking while pursuing her career as a librarian.
